WHAT IS ELLACOR®?
The ellacor® device makes use of hollow needles, which create channels by removing incredibly thin tubes of skin, known as micro-cores, to stimulate improvement in skin tightness and texture. The Micro-Coring™ needles are especially fine, each with a diameter of less than .5mm. This is so small, the needles do not cause scarring.
Ellacor® at Portland’s Waldorf Center is a micro-coring treatment that removes tiny columns of skin which triggers an immune response that stimulates collagen and improves the look and feel of the surrounding tissue. The size of the needles and holes that are left behind are unlikely to cause scarring as they heal and the surrounding skin tightens and smooths.
HOW DOES ELLACOR® WORK?
Unlike laser treatments (which prompt healing by causing thermal damage) or microneedling sessions (which create channels without removing tissue), the technology powering ellacor® removes skin on a microscale. Each micro-core then closes as the skin heals, with repairs happening along relaxed skin tension lines. The result is a more youthful look.
The ellacor® System with Micro-Coring™ is designed to treat moderate to severe wrinkles on the face—specifically the middle and lower portions.
Currently, Micro-Coring™ is recommended only for patients with lighter skin types, since darker skin types could have a different reaction.

Treatments are relatively brief and well tolerated by patients. An anesthetic will be provided in order to make the experience as comfortable as possible, and the ellacor® session typically takes 30 minutes or less to complete.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER AN ELLACOR® SESSION?
Possible side effects after a treatment include tenderness, swelling, and bruising. Studies have revealed that most patients feel comfortable returning to work and other daily activities within three days after their treatment.
