The Juvéderm® Family of Fillers
INJECTABLE GELS FOR LONG-LASTING WRINKLE REDUCTION IN PORTLAND, OR
The Waldorf Center has long offered dermal fillers for women and men who want to reduce the look of wrinkles on their face, but who aren't looking for the more dramatic results possible with surgery. The practice provides Juvéderm® for Portland-area patients who want its skin-smoothing benefits, offering three options in the line: Vollure™, Voluma®, and Volbella®.
Each product in the Juvéderm® family is used to add natural-looking volume to the skin on specific parts of the face, filling in fine lines and wrinkles or restoring youthful contours as desired. Volume added by these fillers can effectively reduce the appearance of facial folds, lines, wrinkles, and hollows, It can also augment thin lips.*

As we age, the collagen and elastin levels of our skin become depleted, causing a loss of elasticity and volume. Today, dermal filler injections allow for a rejuvenation of the skin without the need for more invasive procedures.
A youthful face typically has plentiful collagen and well-distributed fat that together create satisfyingly rounded curves. The damaging effects of sun exposure and the realities of aging reduce these vital components in the skin over time, causing hollows to develop where there once was a look of healthy fullness and creases to form in areas where the skin was formerly smooth.
When applied by a skilled injector in facial areas chosen with precision, Juvéderm® can "fill in" unwanted lines, making them less noticeable.*
All of the Juvéderm® fillers are injectable gels with a hyaluronic acid base, giving them a particular affinity for water and allowing them to hold onto water molecules to encourage both added volume and moisture retention in the skin.
WHO INJECTS JUVÉDERM® AT THE WALDORF CENTER?
All of the doctors at The Waldorf Center are trained, qualified, and experienced in personally administering Juvéderm® injections, as are our physician assistants, registered nurses, and nurse practitioners. Since the practice focuses on both surgical and non-surgical treatment options, the entire staff is well versed in safety and health, as well as the intricacies of facial anatomy and how changes in one area can impact another.
Each Juvéderm® injector has a depth of real-world experience with a variety of patients and can give you a balanced look tailored to your facial features and personal cosmetic goals. Considering the number of trained injectors we have on staff, Juvéderm® patients can choose to work with the one they feel they have the best relationship with, maximizing their comfort for current and future treatments.
Our team can provide more information on any of our injectors, as well as explain why selecting an officially recognized Juvéderm® provider with a good reputation is important.
YOUR JUVÉDERM® CONSULTATION
Each patient at The Waldorf Center starts his or her aesthetic journey with a consultation. The team wants to be sure everyone is as informed as possible, as a thorough understanding of the selected Juvéderm® treatment can improve outcomes and ultimate satisfaction with the results.
The Waldorf Center supports patient education with the belief that the more you know about fillers and your options, the better equipped you are to make a decision that will have a positive impact on your appearance and life. Your Juvéderm® consultation will include information on typical dermal filler results, preparation details, and post-treatment recovery.
All Juvéderm® patients are encouraged to bring up any concerns or goals they may have. Your injector will give you a thorough examination and an honest assessment of what the relevant treatments can accomplish, as well as answer any of your questions.
At your consultation, you will share your medical history and cosmetic goals, as well as be encouraged to ask any questions you may have about dermal fillers or other treatments and procedures.
WHAT IS JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC?
Patients seeking the longstanding reliability of Juvéderm® but with even longer-lasting results can opt for Vollure™, approved by the FDA and available to the public as of 2017. Vollure™ XC is intended for addressing moderate to severe facial lines and wrinkles, including nasolabial folds that appear over time beside the mouth.
YOUR JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC PROCEDURE
With the proper Juvéderm® treatment selected, your injector will address your specific concerns.
The Juvéderm® injection process itself should take no longer than 15 to 20 minutes. The "XC" in the product's name is how manufacturer Allergan signifies that it contains lidocaine to reduce sensation and improve patient comfort during the session, though you may experience some bruising, redness, or irritation after.
These common side effects should resolve naturally in the days following your Vollure™ injections as the results become increasingly apparent.* Allergan reports that the skin-smoothing effects of Vollure™ XC can last up to 18 months under ideal circumstances—which include a trained and experienced injector.

WHAT IS JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC?
Voluma® XC can temporarily restore a youthful profile, bringing a pleasant shape, youthful roundness, and increased volume back to key areas for years.* This hyaluronic acid-based filler adds fullness to the apple of the cheeks and changes facial contours for a younger look.*
The Voluma® XC filler acts as a replacement for the hyaluronic acid lost to time and the elements. Hyaluronic acid is very good at retaining water, so Voluma® XC allows the skin to hold onto moisture and create volume where it is needed. This volume can round out the apple of the cheek again, filling in hollows and lifting the skin that has sagged. Under ideal conditions, the results can last for up to two years.*
YOUR JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC PROCEDURE
Most injectable dermal fillers are now infused with lidocaine to improve your comfort during the procedure. A topical anesthetic or a local anesthetic injection can also be used to reduce discomfort. An ultrathin needle is used to inject the Voluma® XC into a deep layer of the skin.
The procedure usually only takes a few minutes, but if a topical anesthetic is used, you must be in our office for a short period in order for numbing to take place. Allergic reactions with these products are extremely rare, so skin testing is not required.

WHAT IS JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC?
As with all Juvéderm® fillers, the active ingredient in Volbella® XC is hyaluronic acid. Allergan's proprietary Vycross® technology creates a blend of different molecular weights in the hyaluronic acid to create the smooth, gel-like consistency that allows the injector to massage and precisely distribute the filler into the skin for the best possible results.
Juvéderm Volbella® XC treatments can add subtle volume to the lips and around the lip area, correcting vertical lines around the mouth. The filler helps the skin maintain fullness as it holds in water like a sponge and is able to absorb and retain up to 1,000 times its own weight. Juvéderm Volbella® XC has also been shown in several cases to boost the skin's natural production of collagen.

YOUR JUVÉDERM VOLBELLA® XC PROCEDURE
Once the areas for treatment have been precisely selected and cleaned, Juvéderm Volbella® XC is injected carefully in and around the lips with an ultra-fine needle. Your injector may gently massage and work to distribute the gel into the skin to achieve more customized, targeted results.
The treatment sessions are simple and efficient, conducted in our office, and last about 30 minutes, depending on the areas being treated. Our patients usually report that Juvéderm Volbella® injections feel virtually painless and give the skin in the treated areas a tighter and smoother appearance. The effects of the Juvéderm Volbella® session can continue to improve in the days following treatment, and can last up to a year.*

WHAT COMPLEMENTS JUVÉDERM®? OTHER WRINKLE TREATMENTS AND MORE IN PORTLAND
The various members of the Juvéderm® family all work well to complement each other, as well as other treatments. While Juvéderm® fillers are intended to soften static wrinkles, dynamic wrinkles—which form as certain muscles contract over and over again—require a different solution. BOTOX® can relax the targeted muscles for months at a time, reducing the appearance of frown lines on the forehead and fine wrinkles to the side of the eyes, known as crow's feet.
Chemical peels and microdermabrasion can further enhance rejuvenation efforts by evening out pigmentation irregularities, softening fine lines, and providing skin with an overall healthy glow.*
Sagging on the lower face may also be addressed by surgery, which yields longer lasting and often more dramatic results. A facelift is designed to tighten and lift drooping skin that forms jowls. Talk to The Waldorf Center's team to find out which treatment would best suit your unique needs.
