Lip Injections Portland OR
Pouty, sensuous lips have long been considered an aesthetic ideal. Youthful lips are full and without surrounding wrinkles and creases, but as we age, we tend to lose volume in the lips. Lipstick also often bleeds into the fine lines that have developed around the mouth.
Through the use of dermal fillers, lip augmentation can restore lip fullness or create it for the first time in those with naturally thin lips. The fuller appearance can be maintained for up to one year.
Injecting dermal fillers is an art, and our well-trained injectors have many years of experience performing successful lip augmentation procedures for our patients. You don’t have to worry about your lips looking too full. We know how to use injectables properly for a natural look that enhances your appearance but is not obvious.
Laser resurfacing may also be used to smooth deeper lip lines and wrinkles, rejuvenating the entire area surrounding the mouth. Botox® may also be useful in normalizing “lipstick bleed” lines.

Your Lip Augmentation Procedure
Your injector will determine the best dermal filler for you. The products usually used for lip augmentation are hyaluronic acid-based.
An ultrathin needle is used to inject the lips with the filler. These products are now infused with lidocaine to improve your comfort during the procedure. A topical anesthetic or a local anesthetic injection is used to further reduce discomfort. The injections only take a few minutes, but you must be in our office for a short period in order for numbing to take place.
Allergic reactions with these products are extremely rare, so skin testing is not required.
Recovering from Lip Augmentation
After the procedure, the results can be seen immediately. There is typically some additional fullness at first due to mild swelling, but this will resolve over the following 2-3 days. Some people also experience some slight bruising, which should be gone within a week or sooner.
