Many women notice changes in the shape and position of their breasts over time, after childbirth, or after weight loss. Dr. Waldorf can erase the effects of gravity and restore a more youthful shape and position to your breasts with a breast lift (mastopexy).
A breast lift will not increase breast size, but it can be combined with breast augmentation to both lift the breasts and insert implants.
Dr. Waldorf is an expert breast surgeon with more than 20 years of experience, and Waldorf Center has an all-female staff that is especially sensitive to the concerns and needs of women patients.
Your Breast Lift Consultation
We believe you need to be well-informed about breast lift surgery so that you can make an informed decision about your procedure and your surgeon. This includes the results you can expect, the processes of preparing for the surgery, and the recovery period. Dr. Waldorf will meet with you and address your concerns and personal goals. She will examine you and tell you what she can accomplish for you. She will also advise you what the breast lift will involve in terms specific to your case.
Dr. Waldorf will also use the Vectra Imaging System for visualization to give you an idea of what you can expect to look like after surgery.
Choosing a surgeon is an intensely personal decision. We encourage you to ask questions of Dr. Waldorf and our team. We want you to feel comfortable with us and your decision to have surgery at Waldorf Center.
Your Breast Lift Surgery
A breast lift is performed by making incisions around the areolas (the darker skin around the nipples) and, in some cases, vertically on the lower portion of the breast. Dr. Waldorf then removes excess skin, repositions the nipples, and reshapes the breast tissue. She can also resize and reshape the areolas, if necessary.
The surgery is highly customized for you based on your anatomy and how you wish to look. The incisions do result in scars, but they will fade and soften/flatten within a year. Dr. Waldorf also does everything she can to retain as much nipple sensation as possible.
The surgery usually takes 1-2 hours and is performed under general anesthesia. After recovery from the anesthesia, you can return home to be cared for by family or friends.
Recovering from a Breast Lift
Most women return to work after a breast lift within 1-2 weeks. Normal activity can be resumed in 4 weeks.
Expect some soreness, swelling, and bruising for a 2-3 weeks. You may take pain medication to manage discomfort.
