Leg Vein Treatment

Leg Vein Treatment

Age, sun exposure, hormones, genetics, or standing for long hours can all cause vascular malformations like spider veins on the legs. Depending on the size of the blood vessels, sclerotherapy or laser treatment can be used to diminish or remove them.

Sclerotherapy is typically the treatment we use for spider vein removal on the legs. Laser treatments can also be done to alleviate smaller veins so that you have the best possible result. We have extensive experience with leg vein treatment, offering patients clearer skin so that they feel more comfortable wearing dresses, shorts, or swimsuits.

Your Leg Vein Treatment Consultation

We believe you need to be well-informed about leg vein treatment so that you can make an informed decision about your procedure. This includes the results you can expect, the processes of preparing for the procedure, and the recovery period. We will meet with you about your concerns and personal goals. We will examine you and tell you what we can accomplish for you. We will also advise you as to what the leg vein treatment will involve in terms specific to your case.

Choosing a clinician is an intensely personal decision. We encourage you to ask questions of our surgeons and our team. We want you to feel comfortable with us and your decision to have leg vein treatment at Waldorf Center.

Your Leg Vein Procedure

Sclerotherapy involves tiny injections of a sclerosing solution in the veins. The solution causes the veins to turn white, swell, and collapse with the aid of post-procedure compression stockings. The treated lining of the vein eventually adheres to itself, closes off, and heals. The body then reroutes the blood flow along healthy veins.

Most patients require multiple treatments to eliminate as many veins as possible. This is a non-invasive procedure that we can perform in the office in 30-60 minutes. The injections are only mildly uncomfortable.

Laser treatments can be done in some cases in place of or after sclerotherapy to clear up smaller residual veins that were not eliminated by the sclerosing solution.

Recovering from Leg Vein Treatment

You might experience some cramping immediately after sclerotherapy. Bruising is to be expected, and you will be asked to wear compression stockings for about three days after each treatment.

You can return to work immediately, but you should avoid strenuous exercise for a few days after treatments.
