As we age, the collagen and elastin levels of our skin become depleted, causing a loss of elasticity and volume. The results are wrinkles and sagging of skin tissue. Today, dermal fillers allow for a rejuvenation of the skin without the need for surgery.
At Waldorf Center, we offer several of the most effective, state-of-the-art injectable fillers – each with its own specific anti-aging properties to address different issues. These include:
- Juvéderm® XC
- Juvéderm Voluma® XC
- Belotero Balance®
Only a skilled injector can assess the amount of filler to inject and determine the best fillers and optimal injection sites for a natural-looking result. Injecting dermal filler is an art form and we have many years of experience administering facial fillers here at The Waldorf Center.
Your Dermal Filler Consultation
We believe you need to be well-informed about dermal fillers so that you can make an informed decision about your procedure and your injector. This includes the results you can expect, the processes of preparing for the procedure, and the recovery period. We will meet with you about your concerns and personal goals. We will examine you and tell you what we can accomplish for you. We will also advise you what the procedure will involve in terms specific to your case.
Choosing an injector is an intensely personal decision. We encourage you to ask questions of our team. We want you to feel comfortable with us and your decision to have dermal fillers at Waldorf Center.
Your Dermal Filler Procedure
Dermal fillers smooth the skin and create a fuller, more youthful appearance. The results are usually instantaneous, and sometimes, they continue to improve over time as they encourage your skin to produce more of its own collagen.
Juvéderm XC is a smooth gel that consists of hyaluronic acid, a substance that naturally occurs in the body. It smooths wrinkles in the cheeks, as well as moderate to severe nasolabial folds. It can also be used for lip augmentation or combined with a facelift. The results last 9-12 months.
Juvéderm Voluma® XC
Juvéderm Voluma is a thicker version of Juvéderm that is injected deeper into the skin and is frequently used for non-surgical cheek augmentation to build up flattened, sagging cheeks that have lost volume. It can also be used to improve sagging jowls. These injections can last in some patients as long as 2 years.
Restylane is a gel also made of hyaluronic acid. It fills moderate to severe lines and wrinkles and can be used for lip augmentation. It can last as long as a year in some patients after a second treatment.
Perlane is another hyaluronic acid filler that is excellent for cheek augmentation and correcting nasolabial folds and marionette lines. It lasts 9-12 months.
Radiesse is made up of microspheres of biocompatible calcium hydroxylapatite suspended in a gel. It is effective on deeper folds and lines and can lift sagging jowls. Radiesse can also be used for cheek augmentation.
Belotero Balance is a hyaluronic acid filler that works best on superficial facial lines and wrinkles. These include tear troughs (orbital hollows under the eyes), frown lines, lines around the mouth, nasolabial folds, smile lines, and marionette lines. It lasts 4-9 months.
Most injectable dermal fillers are now infused with lidocaine to improve your comfort during the procedure. A topical anesthetic or a local anesthetic injection can also be used to reduce discomfort.
An ultrathin needle is used to inject the fillers into a deep layer of the skin. The procedure usually only takes a few minutes, but if an anesthetic is used, you must be in our office for a short period in order for numbing to take place.
Allergic reactions with these products are extremely rare, so skin testing is not required.
Recovering from Dermal Filler Injections
You might experience some mild bruising and tenderness at the sites of the injections, but these effects only last a few days. Makeup can be used to cover any discoloration that occurs.
