Many people are annoyed by the rash-like redness of rosacea, as well as by small red vessels on their face. Others have brown spots or “sunspots” that develop from exposure to the sun, making their skin appear older. Some people complain of fine wrinkling that makes them look older than they are or than they feel. For all of these cosmetic issues, FotoFacial® at Portland's Waldorf Center for Plastic Surgery can help.
Though certain wavelengths of light, such as ultraviolet, cause damage to the skin, the careful application of specific wavelengths can have a beneficial effect. The technology that drives a FotoFacial® treatment pairs this light with other forms of energy to achieve visible results without surgery or the need for down time for recovery and recuperation.
Though it is not a surgical procedure, a FotoFacial® is still a treatment that requires education so patients are aware of its unique features and can be sure they are making the choice that is right for them. Men and women considering this treatment will first meet with a member of The Waldorf Center team to get questions answered and determine whether FotoFacial® is the ideal option to get the desired results. Patients will learn what the procedure entails, what it can and can't do for skin, and what to expect before, during, and after the treatment.
The ELOS FotoFacial® laser is capable of treating a number of skin issues. It utilizes intense pulsed light (IPL) and radiofrequency energy to maximize treatments. By utilizing different settings, this treatment can deliver energy into the skin, where it is absorbed by areas with darker pigment, which can greatly reduce brown spots and the redness from rosacea. It can also collapse little red vessels (sometimes referred to as spider veins) that are unnecessary for proper circulation and can draw unwanted attention on a person's face. There are also skin-tightening settings that can improve the skin tone of the face for a special event.*
Note that the treatment can feel like small rubber band snaps and is performed without numbing cream. Depending on your skin's condition and your goals, one or multiple treatments may be recommended to give you the improvement of skin appearance you desire. Whatever the number, this treatment is well tolerated and requires no downtime afterward.

Oftentimes, the pigmented spots or vessels that are treated with a FotoFacial® become darker after a treatment session, but these can easily be covered with makeup. Over a few days to a week, treated spots/vessels resolve and fade to leave you with youthful, healthy-looking skin. It is important to practice sun protection after any light or laser treatment of the skin.
I was displeased with my breast size. We did the 3D Vectra imaging and Dr. Waldorf concluded that 220 or 255cc silicone implants would give me my desired results. Everything went extremely smoothly on the day of my surgery ... I was back to normal activity within 1-2 weeks. Overall it was an excellent experience!Learn More
From the very first visit, all my experiences with Dr. Waldorf have been great. I was always self-conscious of my small chest but never as much as after having 2 kids & nursing each of them for 1 year. I had no cleavage at all & finding a swimsuit that could conceal this was very difficult. I went from 32A to 32C which fits my body perfectly & looks very natural. The surgery & my recovery went very smooth & I'm very happy with the result.Learn More
