J-Plasma®

Tighten Lax, Sagging Skin & Improve the Look of Fine Lines & Wrinkles at Our Portland, OR, Practice

What if you could look more youthful and healthier with minimal downtime and no surgery? J-Plasma® at our Portland, OR, practice combines the benefits of cold helium plasma with radiofrequency technology to resurface skin tissue in a highly controlled manner that allows targeted treatment of specific areas, as well as overall facial rejuvenation.

J-Plasma® is a very effective system that can be used to tighten and rejuvenate skin on the face and neck. To learn more about receiving J-Plasma® in Portland, OR, contact The Waldorf Center for Plastic Surgery online, or call our office directly at 503-646-0101 or 1-800-310-7901.

What Can J-Plasma® Treat?

As noted earlier, J-Plasma® is a unique device that combines radiofrequency energy with inert helium gas to produce cool helium plasma that can ablate (i.e. remove or dissipate by vaporization) skin tissue in such a precise manner that there is minimal trauma to any of the other surrounding tissues.

The length of the helium stream produced by J-Plasma®, as well as the width and depth to which it travels, can thus be easily controlled by the technician operating the device.

Because of the precision, control, and effectiveness that J-Plasma® lends, only one or two treatment sessions may be required (although individual patient results may vary). It is commonly used in treating:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles.
  • Loose, sagging facial skin
  • Conditions of dyschromia (i.e. hyperpigmentation or hypopigmentation), such as melasma
  • Acne-related and other scars
  • Large pores
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Sun spots

Our founder Dr. Kathleen Waldorf notes that the J-Plasma® treatments at The Waldorf Center are particularly effective in tightening lax skin in the neck area. It can also be used as a skin resurfacing treatment for fair-skinned patients, and to address vertical lip lines and age spots.

Treatment & Recovery

A J-Plasma® treatment session is performed under anesthesia. There is minimal downtime, and little to no discomfort.

While some patients may require more intensive treatment for specific problem zones, the entire face is typically treated to boost collagen production and ensure that the results are smooth and even all over.

While there will be some redness after the session, patients are typically able to return to their daily routine. For about a week or two, the skin at treated areas may peel or crust to reveal the fresh layers underneath. By the end of week two, the skin should look smoother and clear of blemishes, at which point you may wear light makeup.

Patients will be provided with guidelines for post-treatment care to ensure the results are maintained for as long as possible.

J-Plasma® may also be combined with Ultherapy® and injectable treatments such as BOTOX® Cosmetic and dermal fillers to non-surgically achieve a more youthful appearance overall. While the results may not be quite as dramatic as those of a facelift, many patients find that these treatments are all they require to achieve their desired results. Their minimally invasive nature and downtime add to the appeal.
