Mommy Makeover
A common sentiment of mothers after they have completed their family is, “I wouldn’t change having my children for anything, but I do miss my pre-pregnancy body.” Stretch marks, extra skin, and drooping breasts or lost breast volume are the primary changes mothers seek to address with a “mommy makeover” here at the Waldorf Center for Plastic Surgery.
The term “mommy makeover” is a description for a combination of rejuvenating surgical procedures which may include abdominoplasty, breast lift, breast augmentation, and labiaplasty.
The Consultation
We believe you need to be well-informed about the cosmetic procedure in which you are interested, including the pre- and post-operative expectations. At your initial consult, the physician will meet with you about your concerns and personal goals. Feel free to bring in images of looks that you do or don’t like to help us understand your aesthetic tastes and goals. The surgeon will then examine you, and offer her opinion on how to achieve your goals, based on best practices.
Choosing a surgeon is an intensely personal decision. We encourage you to take time to question the physician and her team. We believe the formation of a personal bond is an integral part of the surgery and healing process.
Recovery
Recovery time is a significant consideration for women with active lifestyles—particularly those caring for small children. It is important to plan for the help you will need the first days after your surgery. While you may be able to resume a work or home schedule within 1 to 2 weeks after surgery, plan for light physical exertion within the first 4 weeks, and no heavy physical exertion for up to 6 weeks post-operative. It is important to refrain from heavy lifting during this recovery period. This means you should plan to not be lifting children for up to 6 weeks.
Risks
A mommy makeover, as with other surgical procedures, carries a certain amount of risk. It is important that you understand these risks, and the possible complications or adverse events associated with surgery. Your surgeon will discuss the surgical risks with you during your consultation and pre-operative appointments.
