Waldorf Center FAQ's
Frequently Asked Questions
SURGERY
Q: I am 54 years old and feel younger than the reflection
in the mirror. Is their anything I can do to bring the life back to my sagging
face and sallow complexion?
A: The aging face and neck involves not merely laxity of
the skin, but usually descent of the facial fat and looseness of the neck
muscle. A proper
face-lift
addresses all three of these areas. This includes
tightening of the muscle, trimming and/or repositioning of the fat, and re-draping
of the skin over the new base (including some skin removal if necessary).
The result need not look artificial and excessively tight and should be customized
for each individual. Treatments and products available in our
Medical Day
Spa can improve your complexion before and after surgery.
Q: I am five pounds above my ideal weight, am I a candidate
for liposuction?
A: Yes, patients who are slightly overweight can benefit
from
liposuction. It is best to be at or near your normal weight. Patients
who have localized areas of protruding fat achieve the most dramatic results.
Good skin elasticity permits the skin to shrink easily to the reduced contour.
After surgery your results can be enhanced if you participate in our optional
Endermologie recovery treatment plan. This incorporated with a healthy diet,
exercise and adequate water consumption will give you the best results possible.
Q: I am interested in breast enlargement but scared of tell
tale scarring, is their a way to minimize scarring?
A: Yes, the incisions made to insert your
breast implants can be
placed in one of three inconspicuous places. The three choices are around
the areola (nipple), disguised in the natural pigment change, hidden in the
crease under the breast where it meets the chest, or under arm.
LASERS
Q: I've heard of all different kinds of lasers; what types
do you use and what do they do?
A: We have two lasers at our center. The ELOS is used for
hair removal,
vein, and pigment removal as well as photorejuvenation and the Foto
Facial. The ELOS uses intense pulsed optical and radio frequency energies
to renew the skin surfaces. There is no down time after ELOS treatments. The
Coherent CO2 laser is used for sun damaged, aging, wrinkled or acne scarred
skin. This is the laser that has received so much attention on television
and in magazines for reversing the effects of aging. When using the CO2 laser
there is significant prepping before surgery and down time after surgery.
BOTOX
Q: What is Botox“ therapy?
A: It is a simple, non-surgical treatment that smoothes lines.
The natural, purified protein works by relaxing the muscles that cause wrinkles.
Q: What is a Botox“ treatment like and what does it
treat?
A: It’s a simple, 10-minute treatment that consists
of a few tiny injections. The procedure is safe because it is injected in
very low doses to a confined area. There are no reported side effects or allergic
reactions. Botox treatments are ideal for patients who want a quick, relatively
painless fix for wrinkles such as frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s
feet.
Q: Is the procedure painful?
A: Most patients compare the sensation to a bug bite. If
there is discomfort, it is minimal and temporary. If necessary, the treatment
area can be numbed with a cold pack or topical anesthetic cream, but most
patients tolerate the treatment with out complaint.
Q: Is there any down time required?
A: No, most patients go right back to work or their daily
routines immediately after the treatment.
Q: When will I see results? How long will the effects last?
A: You should begin to see significant improvement with in
a few days. The effects of Botox can last up to four months. And the treatment
can be repeated once the effects have worn off. Most patients schedule their
Botox treatment every four months.
Q: Will my facial expressions appear unnatural?
A: Although the results are dramatic, your facial expressions
will not radically change. The muscles are simply relaxed, so you can still
smile, frown, or look surprised without the wrinkles and creases.
Q: Is Botox“ therapy expensive?
A: Actually, it’s quite affordable. In fact, Botox
is one of the least expensive facial aesthetic procedures in the country.
The minimum treatment is $120. The average facial treatment is around $240.
