Lip Augmentation

Full, sensual lips have long been considered an aesthetic ideal. Youthful lips are full and without surrounding wrinkles or creases. As we age, volume is lost in the lips, and often lipstick bleeds into the small wrinkles that develop around the mouth.

Lip fullness can be restored, for those who have lost volume, or created, for those with naturally thin lips, with injectable fillers. Temporary injectable fillers are the most common method of creating lip fullness. These remain in the lips for approximately 6 months.

After a discussion with one of our well-trained clinical injectors (physician, physician assistant, or registered nurse), the appropriate type of filler can be determined and the procedure can be performed in the office. Typically a topical anesthetic is applied and sometimes a regional block is performed to make the injection process as comfortable as possible.

After the procedure, the results can be seen immediately. There is typically some additional fullness due to mild swelling that resolves over the following 2-3 days. Some people also see some bruising to the area, which typically disappears over the following week.
