Cosmetic Eye Surgery (Blepharoplasty)
Many people feel they look more tired or older than they really are, because of the drooping skin or bags around their eyes. The area around the eyes is often the first area that people show signs of aging.
Occasionally, this extra skin can actually interfere with a person’s vision. An eye doctor can evaluate visual fields to determine if the removal of eyelid skin is medically necessary.
By surgically removing the excess skin and fat, the look around the eyes is cleaned up and softened, giving a more youthful and refreshed appearance. Incisions are placed in natural lines in the upper or lower eyelids, so the scars are hidden nicely. One should plan to have some swelling and bruising around the eyes for up to two weeks after surgery.
