asps The ASPS reminds patients to do their homework before choosing any procedure. Once the decision for plastic surgery has been made, make sure the plastic surgeon is an ASPS member. Members of ASPS are certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, the only board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties to certify surgeons in plastic surgery of the face and all areas of the body. These plastic surgeons have graduated from an accredited medical school, completed at least five years of residency, a minimum of three years of general surgery and at least two years of plastic surgery and abide to a strict code of ethics.
