Thigh Lift

After massive weight loss, many people notice excess skin and dimpling of the thighs. This can be unsightly and very frustrating after months to years of diet and exercise to lose the weight. A procedure called a thigh lift from the Waldorf Center for Plastic Surgery often utilizes liposuction to remove remaining pockets of fat and an incision on the thigh to remove excess skin and fat. The Surgery

Thigh lifts may be performed on the medial (inner) thighs, as well as the lateral (outer) thighs. There are a variety of techniques that are used for a thigh lift. As mentioned above, this procedure may also utilize liposuction to remove pockets of fat.

The surgery usually takes 1 to 2 hours of time, and is performed with general anesthesia. Absorbable stitches are used to close the incision. This is an outpatient procedure, so you will go home the same day.

Recovery

Recovery is relatively quick and most patients find they are able to resume a regular work or home schedule after 1-2 weeks. Compression garments are worn during the first several weeks to help control swelling and improve the final result. Most can return to strenuous activity levels in 4-6 weeks.

Risks

A thigh lift, as with all surgical procedures, carries a certain amount of risk. It is important that you understand these risks, and the possible complications or adverse events associated with surgery. Your surgeon will discuss the surgical risks with you during your consultation and pre-operative appointments.
