Ancillary Services

The following procedures are some of the many ancillary surgical treatments that we offer at The Waldorf Center. During your initial consultation with our center you will have a chance to meet with our surgeons, nurses, and estheticians. This consultation typically takes forty-five minutes and allows you the opportunity to explain what type of correction you are seeking. Our surgeons will then discuss your treatment options and expectations.

Your questions will be answered in detail and you will be shown before and after pictures of actual patients our surgeons have operated on. Due to patient confidentiality we have not posted some these pictures on our site, but we have all of our photos available for you to view during your consultation.

Botox Cosmetic®

Botox is a concept in treating facial wrinkles in the forehead, between the eyes, and in the "crows feet" areas (upper third of the face). Botulinum toxin, or Botox works by weakening the muscles of facial expressions. Botox is freshly prepared on the day of injection. Using a very tiny needle, small amounts of Botox are injected into the muscles to be paralyzed. Discomfort is minimal and lasts only a few seconds. Injection of this material into the small muscles between the brows, in the forehead, and at the corners of the eyes causes those specific muscles to halt their function (be paralyzed), thereby improving the appearance of the wrinkles. This paralysis is temporary, and re-injection is necessary within three to ten months.

The most commonly reported adverse events were temporary redness and

Collagen

Collagen replacement treatments have been one of the top ten cosmetic procedures performed since the FDA approved them in 1981. The most frequently treated areas are: forehead lines and frown lines between the eyes, crow’s feet at the eyes, smoker’s, smile and Marionette lines around the mouth, lip border and acne scars. A complimentary test spot is required at least thirty days prior to this non-surgical treatment. Discomfort is minimal with collagen injections and normal activities can be resumed immediately. Slight swelling will last for a few hours and your results will lasts three to six months depending on which area has been treated.

Alloderm

Alloderm is a safe, natural implant that can be placed through a tiny incision with or without anesthesia. It can be used in your lips and nasal labia folds to enhance your smile and reverse the signs of aging. Swelling may last up to a week and if there is slight bruising it can be covered with make-up. If you are not ready for major surgery, but would like to restore your smile and get rid of your wrinkles consider Alloderm because the results will last for many years.

Cymetra

Cymetra is a relatively new replacement treatment that uses Alloderm in a form that is easily injected. Cymetra must be repeated until you have built up the desired amount of correction. The results are designed to last several months to a few years depending on the number of treatments you have.

Contraindications:

   Pacemaker or internal defibrillator
   Acutance taken in last 6 months
   History of keloid scaring
   Any abnormal or undiagnosed pigmentation
   Atypical moles or malignancy
   Non-intact skin (i.e.. Sores, psoriasis, eczema, infection, rash) should be avoided
   Recent chemical or mechanical peeling in treatment area (within 2 weeks)
   Laser resurfacing in treatment area within 3 months
   Any medical condition involving impairment of skin structure, esp healing patterns
   Poorly controlled diabetes
   Pregnancy

Precautions:

   Medications that may cause photosensitivity to light 680-980 nm
   Healing impaired
   History of skin cancer in treatment area, family history of melanoma

Possible Side Effects:

   Temporary mild discomfort from treatment
   Temporary swelling, redness in treatment area
   Superficial scabbing, crusting or blistering
   Transient or permanent dyschromia following epidermal injury

Sclerotherapy (diminishing spider veins)

Sclerotherapy is a simple in-office procedure designed to treat spider veins with the injection of a solution that causes them to collapse and fade from view. This twenty-minute treatment will enhance your legs so that they appear younger, clearer and healthier. Jobst stockings must be worn continuously for three days after each treatment and during this time you must abstain from intense exercise.
